Katina’s words inspire hard work and dedication to all who heed, we have a bit of her story here:
“I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was in the 1st grade. I briefly changed my mind during my junior year in high school and wanted to be an engineer. After working in manufacturing and becoming a mom, I went back to my first love, teaching. Teaching is very demanding when it comes to your time and effort, but you are awarded the privilege of shaping minds of future leaders.
The most satisfying part of my day is when I see students understand a topic that they have been struggling with. I love being able to reach my students and have them really think things through that may or may not be related to my subject area. It is so rewarding to have my “old” kids come back and share their new experiences and how they used something I said or did to help them. The hardest part of being a teacher is trying to find a way to reach every student. Every one of our kids has the capacity to learn and grow– it’s our job to motivate and encourage them!”
